Here’s one we found from ASPWORLDTOUR.COM about the board Tyler Wright won the 2014 US Open of Surfing on. Many of the guys or girls who ride boards shaped by Matt Biolos or made at the …Lost Factory – cannot have the …Lost logo on their board out of respect to their paying sponsors. We’d like to thank them for all their input in helping Lost become a leading surfboard brand worldwide.
Magic Board: Lost Sub-Scorcher II 5’8″ x 18.63″ x 2.23″
After a week of intense showdowns, Australian Tyler Wright became champion of the 2014 Vans US Open. The win was her first of the season, and saw her defeat fellow Aussie and five-time World Champ Stephanie Gilmore.
Despite the small, inconsistent conditions at Huntington Beach, powerful hacks and solid wave selection helped put Wright on the podium. She also credits the board that took her the distance, the Sub Scorcher II from Matt “Mayhem” Biolos.
“My magic board is magic,” said Wright. “I’ve been working with Matt since October last year and it’s been fantastic. I’ve learned a lot about surfboards. My first win was on his board was back in Brazil (at the Billabong Rio Women’s Pro). I completely trusted in his knowledge for waves in America and boards in general and what goes well for me. He picked that board out for me and just told me to ride it.”
When it comes to developing boards for the newly minted champ, Wright leaves it up to Biolos, who can see how each shape affects her performances. “It’s his field, he’s the expert in boards and I love riding them and it works well,” said Wright. “He watches and usually knows what to change knowing when I’m catching a rail and it’s amazing what he can pick up.”
