11/9/13: A giant congratulations to …Lost rider Mason Ho who has won the 2013 ASP 4 Star HIC Pro at Sunset Beach, Hawaii. He used traditional positioning, power surfing, knowledge of his local break and a splash of big wave bravado to add another mantle piece (or possibly a door stop) to the Ho dynasty. With this win Mason secures a round of 64 seed into the Triple Crown events at Haleiwa and Sunset plus a 1,000 points toward WCT qualification. He was also crowned 2013 ASP Hawaii Regional Champion. His dad won this particular event four times between 1988 and 1996, and now Mason becomes the 30th name on the HIC Pro winner’s cup.
“It feels great to win in front of all my best friends and all the people that I walk past every day,” said Ho.
“It’s always been a goal in my life to win contests, but to do it here at home… I’ve never really won a (world tour contest) before and I’ve been doing it for years, so I’m really happy.”
The entire final day can be watched in this video.
